Beltre May Be Headed To Halos

Memo to Adrian Beltre's likely new Los Angeles/Anaheim teammates:

Do not try to adjust his Halo after he pops a key home run.

If you do, you may be on the DL for the balance of the year. Apparently, the Sons of Mike Scioscia are the prohibitive front-runners for the services of the former Sox third baseman—despite Scott Boras' continued insistance on a 5-year pact. With his options dwindling, Beltre may have to settle for something less, but it's probably going to be in the friendly confines of the "The Big A".

Wigan 2-2 Arsenal Highlights Goals Video | 29 December 2010

In the midweek action of the Premier League we had three matches with Arsenal playing against Wigan Athletic at JJB stadium and it was the home side which took the early lead and things looked bad for Arseanl but they responded just before the first hal and made it 1-1 on the night.

While Nicolas Bendtner made it 2-1 just a minute before the break and the haltime team talk was made a little less important for Arsene Wnger. After the break it was Arsenal who looked a dangeros side and kept creating more chances.

You can watch the full match highlights here, Video of the goals are available while full match highlights can been seen here later.

Chelsea 1-0 Bolton Highlights Video | 29 December 2010

It was by far the most important game for Chelsea as they were coming into this match on the back of a poor result agaisnt Arsenal two days ago, and on a 6 games winless stream which was a huge cause of concerne for the manager and the fans alike.

FIrst half was a same old stroy for Chelsea, could not break the deadlock but it was their best player this season who have gone quite for the last few games scored to put them 1-0.

Chelsea 1-0 Bolton Wanderers
61' [1 - 0] F. Malouda

Wigan vs Arsenal Live Stream Online | 29 December 2010

Arsenal are now just 3 point behind leaders United in the league and with United dropping points last night against Birmingham City will give extra motivation to Arsenal who will be looking to go out there and win all three points in the league which would put them level on points with United although they would have a game in hand.

JJB is not a stadium which can be considered as ideal in this part of the season as the pitch tend to detiriat and it will kind of hurt Arsenal's passing movement and Wenger have complained many time in the past about the scenario and one thing si for sure if anything goes wrong for Arsenal in this one Wenger might put the blame on Pitch.

Ozzie's Son Calls Jenks "Punk"

Get ready for some Memorial Day Mayhem. That's the first time the Chicago White Sox come to Boston (May 30th) in the aftermath of the Great Guillen-Jenks Family Feud. White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen's son, Oney, called new Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks a "punk" after the latter's comments about Ozzie earlier this week.

How ironic that this would all come to light on the birthday of Craig Grebeck—who toiled for both hose franchises. Oh, the humanity!

Bud Bowl III: Great Taste or Less Filling?

By: C.G. Morelli

Seems I can think back to a simpler time; a time when Super Bowl Sunday wasn’t the selfish, end of season hype generator it is today; a time when our nation’s most widely televised game could share the spotlight with another omnipotent, if ever-juvenile, contest; a time when the stop-break mayhem of a beer bottle football game played ring master to America’s most coveted day of commercial programming.

Of course, I can only be talking about Bud Bowl, the Anheuser-Busch company’s slick marketing ploy which began in 1989 and featured what was billed to be an annual gridiron slugfest between animated teams of Bud and Bud Light bottles.

But I’m not just speaking in general terms here, people. I’m dedicating this article to the genuine article: The greatest Bud Bowl of them all, Bud Bowl III.

To me, this piece of stop-break goodness outshined all other beer-related sporting contests before and after its time. Part of the charm of Bud Bowl III was dependent on the fact that it consisted of a whopping seven ads placed strategically throughout the course of the actual Super Bowl game. That meant you were bound to be treated to an all-important Bud Bowl update nearly twice a quarter on average, instead of the pitiful two or three ad performances of more recent contests.

Also, it was a matchup that set the stage for a possible King of Beers three-peat. A win by Bud would have given them an unprecedented third Bud Bowl championship and an automatic seat in history next to the other dynastic legends of the adult-beverage sporting contest world. Ok, maybe there’s not much competition in this arena. So what?

At any rate, Bud Light wasn’t about to simply crack under the pressure. They had themselves a scrappy team, and past defeats had helped them develop quite a sizable chip on their, eh, shoulders. The addition of top draft pick and star quarterback, “Bud Dry,” also didn’t hurt in the way of boosting Light’s often watered-down confidence.

Aside from all the background hoopla that built Bud Bowl III up in terms of fan excitement, the game itself did not disappoint.

From the opening kickoff, which actually tallied at least 20 seconds on the hang-time meter before ascending out of the stadium, to a big opening drive that featured Bud Light linemen busting open a huge running lane with the aid of a giant-sized can opener, to the introduction of “helmet cam” strapped to the caps of Billy and Bobby Bud (the brothers from Cerveza, TX of course) on a nifty play-action catch and run to open up the King of Beer’s scoring, to the intoxicating play-by-play of ESPN legend Chris Berman, this installment of Bud Bowl had it all.

There was even an encore touchdown plunge by larger-than-life Bud bottle “The Freezer” and a sweet Hail Mary pass to a certain “long necked” Bud receiver to give the defending champs a 21-17 lead with just seconds to go.

But the final play of Bud Bowl III is what cemented it as a commercial masterpiece.

In a play eerily reminiscent of Tennessee’s homerun throwback play (which didn’t happen for another eight years. I think Jeff Fisher may have done a little advance scouting at the Anheuser-Busch facility), surprise kick returner, Bud Dry, collected the kickoff, made a nifty move, and pitched the ball across the field to one of his teammates.

This unidentified Bud Light bottle rumbled down the sidelines, dotted with gasping Budweiser players and coaches, and directly through an over zealous Budweiser team band prepared to celebrate what seemed like a sure Budweiser victory. Then he plowed into the end zone, even with a Tuba uncomfortably clinging to his thermos-chilled body, and gave Bud Light its first ever Bud Bowl championship by a score of 23-21.

By setting up a key TD play earlier in the contest, and through his heroics on the game winning kickoff return, Bud Dry was the clear MVP. True, he may have deserved it. But tell me, folks: Where is Mr. Fancy Pants Bud Dry today?

Discontinued, that’s where.

Regardless, we still have to give Bud Bowl III some love today for being the greatest string of stop-break folly to ever grace all those wasted minutes between Super Bowl drives. Have a look for yourself:

Panic In Concrete Park

Severe panic must be setting in at the Concrete Bunker on 161st Street (AKA New Yankee Stadium). Text messages between Andy Pettitte and Mark Teixeira indicate that the lefty may be hanging up the brooding scowl and retiring to his home in Texas. This, of course, would leave the Empire with a rotation that can best be characterized as: "C.C., Hughes & A.J. and pray for a Rain Delay". Laughable, at best.

Former Sox Exec Lajoie Dies

Longtime baseball executive and former Red Sox consultant Bill Lajoie passed away on Tuesday at age 76. He was a prime mover of the Epstein-free trade that sent Hanley Ramirez to the Marlins for Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell.

After Theo's "Gorilla Suit" departure on Halloween of 2005, Lajoie helped run baseball operations on Yawkey Way and—along with Larry Lucchino—pushed for the trade that (arguably) led to the 2007 World Championship. Lajoie was most famous for building the 1984 World Championship Tigers club.

Anastasia Myskina Female Tennis Player Photos

Tennis star Anastasia Andrayevna Myskina was born in Moscow, Russia on July 8th 1981. From the age of 6 her parents, Audrey and Galina, sent her to Moscow's Spartak tennis club. Here she trained alongside other up and coming tennis greats, including Anna Kournikova and Elena Dementieva. They were coached under the expert guideance of Rausa Islanova, mother of men's tennis pro Marat Safin. Myskina says of her childhood coach:

'She knows exactly how to coach kids. It's so hard to tell kids they have to do certain things, but she's really good at it. She understands children and she's a great person.'

In 1998, at the age of 17, Myskina broke into the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) top 500 and turned professional. On only her second main draw appearance in Palermo, Myskina won her first WTA title. Channelling her talent, she rapidly climbed the rankings to become one of the best baseline players in the world.

Since becoming professional Myskina has won a total of 10 WTA tour singles titles. In 2003 she fulfilled her dream of becoming the first Russian woman to win the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, Russia. The next year her career reached an all time high when she reached number 2 in the world rankings, and was named world champion by the International Tennis Federation. As well as successfully defending her Kremlin Cup title and representing Russia in the Olympic games in Athens, she also triumphed in the French Open. In a stunning series of victories, she knocked out Venus Williams in the quarter-final, Jennifer Capriati in the semis, and Elena Dementieva in the final. As she clinched the final point to claim the championship she couldn't quite believe she had won. On an all time high after the match, she was asked what it meant for her to win
