As FN reported yesterday, the deal to acquire San Diego first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is all but done. Theo Epstein has pulled off a monster deal—he limited the damage to the minor league system and he protected the major league roster for one of the elite players in baseball.Reportedly, the Sox will give up #1 prospect Casey Kelly, solid 1B prospect Anthony Rizzo and CF prospect Rey Fuentes. Staying with the team are Jose Iglesias and Ryan Kalish—and Jacoby Ellsbury and Clay Buchholz (once considered givens in such a deal) are safe as well.
