PORTSMOUTH FC CRISES

ASTON VILLA FC PROGRESS

EPL RELEGATION BATTLE

As the battle to survive being relegated in the Premiership continues in March, Portsmouth FC,Hull City FC,Wolverhampton Wanderers FC,Burnley FC, Wigan FC, etc.

Portsmouth FC has been in the news for the very wrong reasons this season as issues such as lack of salary payment, fund and club mismanagement,excessive debt to other clubs,etc has plunged into a downfall.The South-coast club has been at the bottom of the club for most part of the season.

Burnley FC had shown some sign of hope especially after the win against Manchester United FC and the draw with Manchester City FC. However, a string of defeats has seen the club nose-dive into the relegation waters.

Mick Mc Carthy's men may have beaten Tottenham Hotspurs home and away, this season but inconsistency and series of defeats against the top flight clubs has seen the Wolves stand just on the edge of the relegation side.Also,the game against Manchester United in which Mc Carthy fielded a weak team raised a lot of protests and the club was promptly fined for it.

Wigan FC had started quite finely and was even able to get a win over leaders Chelsea Fc but has failed to live up to expectation.Wigan's coach Roberto Martinz has impressed everyone but poor results on the pitch has seen the JJB Stadium outfit go down.

EPL CLUBS IN EUROPA CUP

Everton FC, Fulham FC and Liverpool Fc were involved in the Round 32 of the Europa Cup. However,Everton could not make it to the round 16(knock-out)stage as Sporting Lisbon got a 3-0 win over the Tofees.

Liverpool FC qualified for the next stage by coming from a goal down to beat Unirea Urziceni 1-3 to qualify for the next stage.

Fulham Fc drew 1-1 with Shaktar Doneskt to qualify for the last i6 of the Europa Cup.

RACE FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 4th POSITON

The race for the last UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE place has taken a new shape as all the 3 contenders for the place all won their respective games.

Manchester City Fc beat Chelsea Fc away at Stamford Bridge, goals from Luca Modric and Roman Pavychenko helped the Spurs beat Everton and Torres's goal ensured that Liverpool stayed on course in 6th place.

Tottenham has moved onto 4th place while Manchester City is at 5th place.However, Aston Villa could have the upper hand as they have two outstanding games having being involved in the Carling Cup final against Man United and the FA CUP replay against Crystal Palace.Villa will play Hull City in one of those outstanding games.

A TEAR FOR RAMSEY

Stoke City had gotten the lead over Arsenal FC after Delap had hulled in one of his legendary throw-ins but The Gunners bounced back after Bendtner headed in a cross from Fabregas.

However, Tony Pulis's men seemed to be getting away with a possible draw but the Gunners snatched a win to move within reach of Manchester United and Chelsea FC.

However, Ryan Shawcross shed a million tears when a tackle on Aaron Ramsey was too much and Ramsey had tibia and fibula fractures.

The Arsenal doctors and physios are doing a great job as Ramsey had a succesful surgery yesterday and will undergo rehabilitation.

CHELSEA PRESSURE COOKER

Chelsea FC may as well be facing a dilemma if they cannot find a way to propel itself out of its current pseudo-crises as was evident when Manchester City beat the Londoners 2-4 away at Stamford Bridge. The love tango between Wayne Bridge and John Terry was far from being over as Bridge snubbed Terry's handshake and some Chelsea players had openly backed Bridge. Petr Cech is out for about a month after getting injured during the Champions League clash against Inter-Milan Fc at the San-Siro stadium.

Also, Ashley Cole,Jose Bosingwa, Michael Essien and Deco are not available for now and Manchester United and Arsenal FC are getting good results as the Gunners beat Stoke City and the Red-devils retained the Carling Cup.

Thus, Chelsea leads Manchester United and Arsenal FC with 1 and 3 points respectively and would have to get all hands on deck to ensure that they keep the lead.

CARLING CUP CHAMPIONS

Manchester United successfully defended the Carling Cup yesterday at Wembley Stadium in a highly entertaining show-down with Aston Villa. However,Aston Villa had started on the right-foot when a penalty was awarded for Martin O'Neill's men and James Milner stuck it into the net.

It had seemed that Sir Alex Ferguson's gamble to keep out Wayne Rooney had failed but Berbatov stole the ball from a sloppy Villa defender,ran towards the goal-line and Micheal Owen successfully scored the rebound.

Then Wayne Rooney was substituted for Owen but Villa held-on to a 1-all draw at half-time. As the 2nd half resumed, Villa took charge of the game as Agbonlahor and Heskey tried their best but were denied by Kuschack.

Wayne Rooney scored the winning goal when he headed in a slick-cross from Antonio Valencia. The victory was special because its the first trophy for new players Valencia and Mame Biram Diouf.
