ENGLAND WORLD CUP FORTUNE

England overcame their disappointing 1st two game misfortunes as they beat Slovenia in their 3rd and final game of the Group Stage to qualify for ROUND 16.

Robert Green's mis-handling of the ball in the 2nd half of the 1st game ensured that USA also shared a point with THE THREE LIONS after Emile Heskey had given England the lead.

The Americans had fought back like wounded lions and a shot from Fulham FC's Clint Dempsey slipped out of Green's fingers.

England also failed to get the maximum points from Algeria as the two sides could only play out a goalless draw.

England qualified with 5 points as a Jermaine Defoe against Slovenia gave THREE LIONS the necessary 3-points.
