Roberto Mancini



Roberto Mancini was born on Nov. 27, 1964 in Jesi, Italy. As a player, he made his debut for Bologna in 1981 and moved to Sampdoria in 1982 to begin a 15-year career during which he won four Italian Cups, one UEFA Cup Winners Cup (1990) and one Serie A title (1991).
He joined Lazio in 1997 and won their second Serie A title in 2000 under the coaching of Sven Goran Eriksson. A year later Mancini begins coaching career as Eriksson's assistant. He made his international debut for Italy in 1984 in a friendly against Canada and went on to make 36 international appearances, scoring four goals.
He started coaching at Fiorentina in 2001 whom he leads to Italian Cup victory but he resigned from the post in 2002 as club headed toward bankruptcy. He returned to Lazio in August 2002 as coach and steered the club to fourth in Serie A despite the threat of bankruptcy and sales of Alessandro Nesta and Hernan Crespo.
Mancini helped Lazio win the Italian Cup in 2004, defeating Juventus in the final,finished in a respectable sixth-position in the league and qualified for a UEFA Cup berth.
Roberto Mancini was released from his contract by Lazio in 2004 and was appointed as the coach of Inter-Milan FC whom he leads to the Italian Cup in 2005 and 2006 and consecutive Serie A titles in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Roberto Mancini was sacked at the end of the 2007-08 campaign after stating that he wanted to quit the club at end of season following Inter's Champions League last-16 elimination by Liverpool FC. He was replaced by “THE SPECIAL ONE” Jose Mourinho and was appointed as the Manchester City manager on December 19, 2009.
